I'm not sure what it was called, but it was the one where Buffy's mom, Joyce, died. She died peacefully at that, which is pretty unusualy for this series. Anyway, I don't think there was any background music at all in the episode, which made it all the more powerful. All you see is the actions and the feelings, the raw emotions. Normally, music is what sets the mood, but in this eppy, no music was necessary.

------------

Well, my brother is on a "lets start a band" craze right now. They have dismantled the pool table in the back room (much to my disagreement) and there is now a drumset and about 4 guitars back there, along with a stack of amps. Believe me, it's loud, it's annoying, and I am on the other side of the house.

------------

Well, for anyone that cares to know, Anna Belle is fine. Anna Belle...my dog...the Beagle, not the big dumb one. She had been looking really tired and acting really lazy. She wasn't eating or drinking much, and she just acted like her whole body was hurting. She had 75% kidney failure. We were lucky, as it showed up in her bloodwork over a week ago (vet said it won't show up in blood work until it reaches 75%). They kept her from Thursday to Monday with an IV pumping fluids into her.

Now that we read about the symptoms, we realize that we noticed some of them, so we're glad we took her.

She's doing fine, she is still not wanting to eat or drink much though, so we are trying to make her drink a lot (since that will keep her from getting worse).

------------

I'm now a week away from Big Stuf. Definitely one of the best weeks in a year. Thanks to Audblog, I'm going to be able to call in and leave audio posts throughout the week. Should be really cool. I'll post the address in the days to come, as there is nothing on the page yet, so stay tuned.

------------

I suppose I should apologize for my lack of posts recently. I'm currently thinking about a redesign of the site, as well as going through numerous ideas for additions. I'm also trying to figure out the easiest way to consolidate my pics from iPhoto, my calendars from iCal, all into a web site through .Mac, without losing the Blog functionality. We'll see what happens.

Oh yea, that was awesome...gonna watch it again!

Woohoo...it's on!!! So without further ado, here is whatever pops into my head as I type this:

I saw X2 yesterday, and what can I say but FRIKKIN AWESOME. As the credits began to roll, I sat staring blankly, my mouth wide open, trying to comprehend what had just transpired before my eyes.

Nightcrawler - perfect! They managed to pull off the depth of the character perfectly.

Colossus - WOW! The few seconds of screen time he had was awesome.

Jean Grey - it was awesome to see her finally come into her own. Any X-Men fans will know what I mean when they see the movie.

Wolverine - what can I say? Wolverine is just frikkin awesome, and he has several "frikkin awesome" moments in the movie.
----------
You know, E3 is coming up, one of the coolest weeks every year, as all the new and upcoming games are announced, many of which haven't been seen before. I've already seen screenshots of Mario Kart: Double Dash, and it has been confirmed that you will be able to play 8 player Mario Kart, using 2 Gamecubes and 2 TV's, by connection two Gamecubes together by using the broadband adapters. I've also heard that we will see movies and screenshots, and even some playable demos, of games such as Halo 2, Star Fox Armada, F-Zero X, Pikmin 2, even Metroid Prime 2, and several other games I will most surely obsess over, all while becoming even poorer as I try to have enough money to buy all of these.
---------
I got a really awesome desk this week. It's one of those metal and glass desks I would always see and dream about getting, but doubting it would ever be possible. Well, by account of a great online deal and a $15 discount thing in the mail, I now have an awesome desk and chair in my room.
----------
If anyone has a chance, please head over to Hoosier Morons at http://hoosiermorons.keenspace.com . All the comics and the site itself are created by a friend of mine, and it's all pretty cool. I just wish I could draw half as good as he does.
----------
Lastly, does anyone remember "Family Guy". Hilarious show created by Seth McFarlane, and baby Stewie is one of the funniest cartoon characters I've seen. It's on Cartoon Network, Sunday through Thursday at 10:30pm.

Who makes the cheapest laptops?

HINT: It's not Dell...

http://www.oscast.com/stories/storyReader$340

Happy Easter everyone!

My latest addiction is "SSX Tricky" for my Nintendo Gamecube...I just can't stop playing it. It's been mostly sunny, but we have seen some rain the past few days, overall it's been a pretty nice Spring Break.

You know, funny thing happened tonight, I mean, this is a doosy.

You see, I've been hooked on this really great TV show the past few years...it's called Farscape. I mean, this show is a good one compared to all the crap that's out there these days. Great characters, acting, scripting, sets, effects, and so on.

Well a few months ago I heard that The Sci-Fi Channel, which aired Farscape, had cancelled it. I kind of rubbed it off thinking, why would anyone cancel Farscape? I mean, this is one of the greatest TV shows I've ever seen...cancel Farscape...that's ludicrous.

I mean, I had read a few months before that Farscape had been picked up for a 4th and 5th season, network decisions pending on the 5th, of course. But I thought, surely they won't cancel it.

I was pretty much confident that they would have a 5th season, and possibly continue on after that, I mean...who wouldn't???

Well, long story short, I watched the final episode of this show, Farscape tonight, and you know, you wouldn't know it by the ending, but I could swear it wasn't cancelled. I mean, it did end with "To Be Continued", which is how every season of Farscape has ended, and all of them have been extremely shocking.

You wouldn't imagine my surprise.

So anyway, how are you doing?

You know, it just seems selfish to me. All the complaints I've heard against this war: "It's not worth one American life", "Bush just wants a war", etc., etc., etc., it all looks selfish to me. Let's not go help another country out, we're fine just the way we are.

Now, I don't support the nature of war, war causes death, but I do support the reasons for war, I do support freedom for all people, and I support the United States military, and I believe whole heartedly that what we are doing is completely justified. All the people complaining about this war don't know what it's like to live in oppression, and neither do I, nor do I ever want to.

I relate it to us as Christ followers, and our duty to bring people to Him. I'm a Christ follower, I believe in Jesus Christ and have accepted Him into my life as my Lord and Savior. I know I'm going to Heaven when I leave this world, and I want to see my family and friends have the same fate and confidence in Him. The attitude of people towards the war seems to be like a Christian saying "Well, I'm going to Heaven, I have eternity, I don't have to help anyone else, I mean, they're not even asking for help."

This attitude directly translates to "I have freedom, I have rights, I don't have to help anyone else get the same thing, I mean, they're not even asking for it."

The truth is, the people of Iraq CAN'T ask for help, they CAN'T speak out, they have NO rights. So are we, a nation who has been infinitely blessed with numerous freedoms and rights supposed to sit back and let those without these basic freedoms suffer?" Do we not have a duty to help those less fortunate than we are.

I was watching the news and seeing pictures today of liberated Iraqi's who were so happy to see the American soldiers, who were so happy to be free, and were so happy to see Saddam's reign of tyranny finally coming to an end.

Last night, I came across an NBC news special, and at one point they showed and talked about a group of former-Iraqi people living in California who were so happy to see thier country finally attaining freedom. They were lucky to make it out, and just want to see every Iraqi have the same freedom.

So is one life not worth this? Freedom? The rights, it seems, that we have all taken for granted? This isn't about killing people, this isn't about being the giant in the playground. This is about helping the people who are unable...who have been prevented from helping themselves.

I leave you with this really cool quote from "The West Wing", that I've minorly modified.

"It's about freedom of speech, not just for us (Americans), but for everyone (the whole world).
It's about freedom of religion, not just for us (Americans), but for everyone (the whole world).
It's about freedom from tyranny, not just for us (Americans), but for everyone (the whole world)."

Approximately 15 minutes ago, the saga that is Children of Dune came to an end. It's amazing that 2 years of waiting can end so quickly. Don't get me wrong, this mini-series was one of the best I've seen, and I will look forward to watching it again and again in the future, but it always seems that things like this go by so fast. And as of Thursday, I will have watched each part of Children of Dune 4 times, for a total of 24 hours of Dune. Talk about geekdom!

The saga of Dune, is far from over...

Well, today March 18, 2003, will go down as a day in Apple Computer history. I've been waiting for this for around 2 years. It's to bad I won't be home to watch the entire original Dune that is on tomorrow. If you won't be able to watch it, you can check out a video prologue over at the Sci-Fi Channel's Children of Dune website.

http://www.scifi.com/dune/prologue/

You willl DEFINITELY want to know what happened in the original Dune in order to be caught up for the sequel. My wishlist:

Batman
Superman (on the way)
Wonder Woman
Catwoman (on the way)
Green Lantern
The Flash
Aquaman
Justice League
Justice Society
Young Justice
Teen Titans
The Legion

I'm here with a few websites you should all check out.

Hoosier Morons - http://hoosiermorons.keenspace.com
This is a site of webcomics made by a friend of mine. Currently, another guy is doing a guest run, but I was assured that Gerry has 3 weeks worth of comics ready to go as soon as Max is done.

Baby Singing in Tub - http://www.flowgo.com/greetings/splish_splash2/splish_splash2.swf
I got home tonight and had an e-mail waiting for me from a friend from high school. It's a splash animation with a baby in a tub singing...it is VERY funny, so you should just go check it out...

Terry Tate, Office Linebacker - http://terrytate.reebok.com
If you remember a commercial during the Superbowl that features people in an office getting tackled, then this is it. There are a couple 3-4 minutes videos, as well as 2 shorter clips. It's basically Terry Tate tackling workers for various reasons around an office. Very awesome indeed.

Morgan Cafe - http://www.morgancafe.com
This is the homepage to a good friend of mine, and is basically his thoughts and rants on all kinds of things. Visit the Foyer Cafe page to see his various rants, and then stop by the guestbook and leave a message. Believe me, it will be worth your time.

MiniClip - http://www.miniclip.com
Now this site has caused me to waste quite a bit of time. It's basically a site loaded with flash games, quite a few of which are very addicting. In one you can literally beat the crap out of Osama Bin Laden, and play a Frogger-like Sheepish. Personally, I am addicted to Hangaroo, which is basically Hangman. I'm seeming to have a lot more trouble with Hangaroo 2 than the first one, but go ahead and give it a try. Starship Eleven is also very fun, as well as the slightly more challenging Monkey Lander. Go ahead, check it out...you know you want to...

NOTE: For some games ,I highly recommend you have a mouse, as using a trackpad can prove quite difficult.

Well, I think that's all I have for now, if you have any sites you'd like me to post here, go ahead and send me an e-mail at captainnw@yahoo.com. I rarely check it, but if I get something, I'll most likely post it.

Well, the Indianapolis Supercross was tonight, and it was pretty good. I usually cheer for Showtime Jeremy McGrath, but since he's retired, I've been cheering on Travis Pastrana. He was out with an injury tonight (he seems to have quite a few), but he is a really cool guy, and is also the same age I am. I also love Mike Larocco, who won the US Open in Las Vegas in October. He's from South Bend, IN, and is also a really cool guy. Unfortunately, he was out with some kind of shoulder injury, so the only guy I was left to cheer for was Ezra "Yogi" Lusk. He went down in the main, and ended up in last...and Pricky Queermichael...I mean Ricky Charmichael won...but don't worry, I did plenty of booing...

I went with 3 friends, and we all had a good time. And of course, people getting drunk are everywhere, and it makes you feel so good to know that some of these people will be driving home.

I just thought I'd write in and talk about 2 of the coolest shows to ever come across my TV. Oddly enough, I didn't really get into these shows until they were already on the air (seems I have that experience with quite a few shows), but both of them have made me love the medium even more.

Farscape (Sci-Fi Channel, Fridays, 8:00pm)
Farscape is by far one of the best written shows I have ever seen. This is one of the only shows on that is not afraid of taking risks, and always leaves the audience coming back for more. I find myself in a love/hate relationship with it, in that both emotions seem to come over me at the end of every episode. Tonight was Farscape at it's best. The writing and the acting were both superb, and it combined all the things that have made Farscape such a great show. I could literally feel my heart beating about half-way through, wondering what the heck was going to happen. As I said, Farscape has never been afraid of taking risks, so you literally have no idea what will happen next. This is the kind of show that is so good because it doesn't always turn out "ok", as is the case with all too many TV shows. Anything could happen, and usually does. It also makes me really mad that Farscape has been cancelled. Don't ask, no one knows.

Another show that I am incurably hooked on is Smallville (WB, Tuesday, 9:00pm), which is the story of Superman's teen years growing up in Smallville. Despite some of the changes that are not "canon" to the original Superman storyline, it is nice to see things different. These changes include Lex Luthor and Clark being friends, and it is really cool to see this relationship when you know they will eventually be enemies. Also, Clark's relationship with Lana Lang is interesting to watch, in that they both "like" each other, and would make a good couple, but you know that Clark will marry Lois, so, in the long run, nothing will come of him and Lana (at least nothing romantic). It's also really cool to see Clark's powers develop, and to see Clark learn about his past. For instance, we've seen Clark's x-ray vision develop, and his heat vision was brought on this season by hormones, almost like Superman puberty, I guess. We've also seen allusions to flying (him waking up floating above his bed once, dreams of flying), although the writers have said we won't see him fly in the show. It is also cool that in "Smallville", Clark has a fear of heights. The writers have also said that by the time Clark goes off to Metropolis, the show will end. It's a really cool show, especially to see the "before" to one of the worlds greatest heroes.

If you have not seen either of these shows, I would recommend both. Farscape will be off the air in a few weeks (*&&^%), so catch it while it's hot.

I saw Daredevil tonight and I must say that it was AWESOME!!! It was exactly what Daredevil should be. A darker hero who has an internal struggle of whether he really is the good guy. I enjoyed the movie very much, and am really wanting it to see it again. This will definitely be one I pick up on DVD. If you haven't seen it, I highly suggest you do, and stay during the end credits to see what happens to Bullseye.

I got home to catch the last half of My Big Fat Greek Life on CBS, and was glad to see that it looks pretty good. I enjoyed the movie very much, and was pleasantly surprised to see this show is doing it justice, despite a few minor changes. Anyway, you should all check it out!

Well, here's the first entry in my brand new blog...I'm not really sure what I want to talk about right now, but I was talking to my friend and he put a website up, so I guess I got the urge to mess around with this again.

First, I need to thank blogger.com, which turns out to be the easiest way for me to do this at the moment. In the future, I may change to something else, but for now this will do quite nicely.

Anyway, this ole blog is going, so now all I need is content...and readers...

So, in the meantime, go check out Homestar Runner at http://www.homestarrunner.com. In particular, check out the Strong Bad e-mails (updated every Monday) and then go watch some of the cartoons. Believe me, you will crack up.
